Democratic strategyist James Carville said he thinks Hbo Bill Maher’s host was deceived by President Donald Trump’s charm during their recent White House meeting.
Former Bill Clinton and his co-perpetrator Al Hunt criticized the “real-time host of Bill Maher” for meeting in part of their Podcast “Politics War” that was released Saturday and marked by Media.
“I think the problem people have with Billin-I have the same-is that you are a kind of main legitimacy and loyalty to this,” Carville said, saying Maher is normalizing Trump, which else said “S-” in the US Constitution.
Maher, a tall, long critic of Trump, ate the dinner with Trump at the White House earlier this month. While eventually returning the meeting during his HBO showing last week, the host wondered how “gracious and discreet” the president was behind the closed doors.
“I never felt that I had to walk in the egg shell,” Maher told his “real -time” audience. “And honestly, I voted for Clinton and Obama, but I would never feel comfortable talking to them as I was able to talk to Donald Trump. That’s just how she fell down.
During a Podcast appearance later that week, Maher responded to the reaction he received from the left to the meeting.
“I had the opportunity to go to the White House and talk to the president and not give up my principles. It looks like no one noticed this,” Maher said. “I didn’t go to Maga. I had the opportunity to talk to Donald Trump and say things that maybe he never listens, literally speak the truth in power. I shouldn’t take that opportunity?”
In their program, Hunt told Carville that he thought Maher had “had”, or he was deceived to find the charming Trump.
“I think Bill Maher had. He went there and he spoke as charming and beautiful was Trump. This was the same guy that day that he was enjoying a guy who was illegally interned in El Salvador and refuses to return him, who likes to hurt people, likes to cause pain.”
“But you know, Bill is just the last in a whole series of people who get from personal charm, if you want, from some really bad people,” continued Hunt.
Carville came in, stating that while he considers Maher a “friend”, he believes he was also deceived.
