NY Times editor allegedly threatened to ‘shoot’ Reporter during the lit dispute over Harvard Story: Report

A New York Times reporter filed a human resource complaint claiming that his editor issued a “death threat” after she allegedly threatened to “shoot” her, another editor and herself during a hot dispute for a story, according to a report.

Tensions were ignited between the veteran editor of Ellen Pollock and reporter Rob Copland in the wake of publishing a critical article on Harvard University’s treatment for the controversial requirements of the Trump administration to return to the claim of anti -Semitism, according to Breaker newspaper.

Copeland, the winner of the awards of a widely rated exhibition for Ray Dalio and his defensive fund Bridgewater Associates, co-wrote the story along with his friends scribe Maureen Farrell and Michael S. Schmidt.

On the eve of the publication, Copland was called to an office meeting with Pollok and editor Michael Corkery, the newspaper said.

The story was seen inside the newspaper’s halls as a particularly sensitive topic given Harvard’s links to multiple staff, including executive editor Joe Kahn.

The dispute reached a peak during the office meeting when Pollock withdrew, screaming at copy to avoid adhering to her instructions, told Breker sources. The screaming session lasted “hours”, according to a source.

Pollock allegedly released what was interpreted as an alarming statement, threatening that if Harvard’s story exceeded 2,000 words, she would “kill” Copeland, Corry and then herself, Breaker reported.

Scuttlebutt in the news room was that there were conversations at the meeting of using a weapon and “threats to the shooting”, but those rumors were incorrect, according to Breaker.

Those who know well polls often spoke of what Breaker referred to as “her unoristodox bedding” and that her comments to Coplar were “targeted as a joke and not a death threat”, according to Bulletin.

However, Copland did not see the humor in the situation.

According to the report, he immediately characterized the statement as a “violation of HR” and raised an official complaint against Pollock.

After the incident, Copland was encouraged to take time away from the letter to de-escalate tensions, but the post has learned that he refused.

Pollock then released an apology.

The final published article particularly exceeded the original pollock word, operating with 2,282 words.

The article, published April 22, under the heading “While Harvard is greeted a hero, some donors still want it to reach a deal”, included prominent figures such as Jared Kushner, Bill Ackman, Larry Summers and Condoleezza Rice.

The post has requested comment from The Times.

The newspaper told Breaker that he was “dedicated to promoting a productive and supportive job and taking all issues related to how our staff works together” seriously.
