Tesla sales dive 49% in Europe while Elon Musk’s firm faces brand crisis, China’s rival

Tesla sales in Europe were plunged in April while the electric car manufacturer faced reactions to Elon Musk’s political work and increasing competition from China -based rival.

Tesla sold only 7,261 cars in the region last month – from 14,228 units sold in the same month a year ago, according to data from the European Association of Vehicle Manufacturers.

April sales figures marked the fourth direct month of Tesla’s fall in Europe.

Sales have fallen by nearly 39% since the beginning of the year.

The total share of the company’s market in Europe fell to 0.7% in April, from 1.3% from year to year.

Sales were immersed in spite of a 34.1% jump on annual sale for battery vehicles in April.

Despite poor sales data, Tesla shares were trading nearly 5% higher Tuesday.

The shares appeared days after Musk repeated in an X post that he was “again to spend 24/7 at work” and while President Trump said he would postpone 50% planned tariffs in the European Union.

Following a deplorable quarter report last month in which Tesla’s net income fell 71%, Musk told analysts that “allocation of his time for DOGE would drop” as he spends “much more my time in Tesla”.

Musk has also said he expects to lead Tesla for at least the next five years.

Musk -led Tesla had faced a wave of protests and vandalism incidents in traders in response to billionaire’s controversial work with President Trump and the government’s efficiency department.

Tesla’s decline also coincides with a steady sales increase for Chinese manufacturer Ev Byd, who topped Musk’s firm in European sales for the first time in April, according to special data compiled by Jato Dynamics research firm.

Byd sales increased 169% in Europe year by year.

Byd also rejected Tesla this year while exceeding $ 100 billion in general sale and doubled its profits to $ 1.3 billion in the first quarter.

The Chinese firm sells its cheaper cars available for less than $ 10,000 and offers a mixture of plug-in hybrids and battery EVs.

Tesla, meanwhile, usually sells at a higher price point and only offers EV with battery power.

Analysts have shown other concerns in Tesla, including the company’s aging machine formation.

Meanwhile, Musk has defended Tesla plans to draw self-direction taxis and “optimous” humanoid robots as essential to the company’s long-term strategy.
