Gratitude is going digital-and millennia are leading the charge filled with emoji.
The last way to say “I love you, man” is not with a beer or a bear hug.
It is with a post-hang text-a cordial digital love letter sent immediately after lunch, one night outside or even a 15-minute faster.
Gist?
“Wow, I needed that. So grateful to you !!!”
Dear and aggressively diligent, these following messages-called “Millennium Thank you notes”-are flooding conversations in groups and boxes with a tidal wave of feelings.
“You know when someone writes you immediately after returning home hanging out with them and they say,” I had a good time, so beautiful to see you “? Gifts from God”, Gushed Tiktok user @carlabezanson in a viral video that has accumulated more than 850,000 likes.
Another bent user, @tpwkky, pet, “One thing for me is that I will send the text ‘Thank you very much for hanging with me” immediately after I stayed out. I want to tell people in my life they matter to me bc life is short and you have to appreciate them while you can (: “
Cringe? Maybe cute? Absolutely.
And according to a 2023 onepoll study of seduce basements, Americans are at the same happy wavelength: the average person says “thank you” six times a day – reaching over 2,200 expressions of gratitude a year.
83% big say they try to practice gratitude every day. The millennia are simply choosing to do it with a digital journal entry sent at 9:47 pm
Even General Z is catching feelings – kind.
“Fighting the encouragement to write my friends, ‘Thank you for hanging with me today, it was a lot of fun: D you are literally the reason I will see Sunrise tomorrow” whenever we end up, “jokes @thatsSorrav3n_ in a tiktok dripping with sarcasm (and over 573,000 likes).
The generative division is clear: the millennia wear their hearts in their texts. General Z prefers them with a thick layer of irony – and an eye.
“I feel like it is a very thing of the Z, zeal through irony,” 27-year-old Andrew pattenaude recently told Bustle. “Likes like a layer of protection to say something you really feel.”
However, the licensed mental health adviser Kathryn Lee says millennia may be in something.
“The millennia would probably prefer more face -to -face connection because this is what they grew up,” she told the Delje. When they finally get it, “they’re sure to say ‘thank you’.”

In fact, gratitude is not just a warm, unclear feeling-is a complete movement.
The post previously reported on onepoll’s aforementioned study, and how 57% of Americans say “thank you” more often than in previous years.
A 40% startling even holds a written list of gratitude, while others ask for everything, from their families and friends to their bosses and herbivores.
Tiktok @paiige_netting user summarized him best: “Trying not to send a” Thank you for leaving me, I really appreciate being together “after every casual shelter with friends.”
Of course, some people feel closest to their loved ones during the holidays – when 76% in the study said they are more connected.
But for Millennials, the new season of thanks is all year long and always begins with: “Hey, it was a lot of fun.”
And sometimes, that’s more than enough.
While @thatsSorrav3n_ said, “You are literally the reason I will see the sunrise tomorrow.”
