“Real Time” host Bill Maher suggested that those who voted for President Donald Trump are actually “disappointed” from his first 100 days in office, even if they do not “say it out loud”.
“I think of the Liberals, it’s worse than they thought even when they anticipated,” Maher started his discussion on the panel on Friday.
“Let’s talk about what is for the other side, Maga people, because I think they are disappointed, though they may not say it out loud,” Maher later. “I think they thought when they were voting for Trump that, ‘well, you know, the losses of work over the last decades, and the stagnation of wages, and the system is just corrupt and broken.
“” So it just needs drastic change. Just break everything. F – judges, f – democracy, f – trade partners. We have nothing to lose. “And now they discovered oh, in fact, they got a lot to lose.”
Later in the conversation, Maher mentioned reports that Trump is looking for an “off-ramp” in his tariff policies, which HBO’s host interpreted as “good news”.
“I think [it’s] Good news that he can actually do it, that he can actually change his mind about things, “Maher said.” And his superpower is that it is such a cult that his followers, even when he changes in a coin, will simply go straight with him. Maher read a report on how leaders from retailers, including Target, Walmart and Home Depot warned Trump that Americans could face higher prices and empty shelves within weeks as a result of tariff warfare.
“So people met him and then something changed,” Maher said.
